Lynn's experience with Mohs surgery & realization on the importance of sun protection.
Meet Lynn and hear out her story.
Are you following complete sun protection practices every day? Hear what Lynn has to say about how a small spot on her nose evolved into Mohs surgery..
Lynn says “I discovered a little tiny spot on my nose. Didn’t look like much, but when I went to my regular doctor’s visit, she seemed to think I needed to see a dermatologist. So she got me there quickly, and before I know it, I had Mohs surgery. Which I think it all surprised me a liitle bit because I am 61, but I really thought I was taking care of my skin..”
She felt she was doing a decent job of protecting herself from the sun's damaging UV rays, but it wasn't enough. She understood that her skin needed a lot more protection than what she was practicing in her daily routine..
Lynn, like many of you, is an outdoorsy person who enjoys spending time in the sun. She enjoys gardening and swimming on a daily basis. She goes for a walk every day. She spends most of her time outside.
We appreciate Lynn sharing her story to help us increase awareness.
Lynn is generous enough to share her story in order to help people realize the need of sun protection and to help Outdoors Tribe raise awareness on this critical subject.
According to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, the most common cause of skin cancer in the United States is the prolonged exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) rays.
Now, you know why Lynn is determined to take care of her skin, and why Outdoors Tribe wants to increase awareness on this matter.
Lynn says "I try to have a hat on all the time, and my family reminds me if I forget". This is exactly what the Outdoors Tribe community stands for, to remind each other to make sun protection part of their lifestyle.
Lynn’s Journey of adopting complete sun protection practices.
She had a lovely straw hat that her husband had given her while she was healing from the surgery, but because she liked being outside, it wasn't good enough for her. She wanted something that would remain on while she was having fun in the water, on the beach, or outside by the pool.
She needed something she could kayak with that wouldn't blow off her head, which is when she decided to get the Outdoors Tribe UV Protective Foldable Sun Hat. She loved how she looked and liked the ponytail compatibility. Now she’s able to enjoy her active outdoor lifestyle carefree.
You need UV Protective Clothing and a UPF Sun Hat with a wide brim to protect your skin from the sun in addition to sunscreen and a moisturizer. Lynn began practicing thorough sun protection after surgery, but we are here to advise you to take such precautions prior to protect yourself from skin diseases.
Lynn’s commitment to sun-protection
Lynn says that “I have upped my wardrobe, more hats, more long-sleeved protection sun gear and this is how I hope to avoid any Mohs Surgery and maintain my lifestyle.
We would like to thank Lynn for helping us raise awareness of why sun protection is important.
